Concealed Weapon Permit Information

Availability

Concealed pistol application kits are provided during normal business hours at the following locations:
  • County sheriff
  • Local police agencies
  • County clerk (Marshall office only)
Concealed pistol application kits are free of charge to any individual wanting to carry a concealed pistol.

Procedure for Applying
  1. The applicant must file their application with the County Clerk in the county in which they reside.
    This must include a copy of the certificate of completion of a pistol safety training course.
  2. Applicant must pay a fee of $105.00 to the County Clerk at the time of filing.
  3. Applicant receives receipt for payment.
  4. Applicant provides receipt to the Sheriff Department indicating payment has been made.
  5. Applicant has fingerprints taken at the Sheriff Department.
  6. Sheriff Department forwards the fingerprints to the Michigan State Police for processing.
  7. Once the gun board receives the fingerprints comparison reports, they will schedule a meeting for the applicant.
